Interior and Exterior stairs have different defaults that can be set up before drawing stairs in your plan.

To set up default materials for stairs

  1. Select Edit> Default Settings  from the menu to open the Default Settings dialog.

  2. Click on the plus sign next to Stairs and Ramps, select Interior Stairs, and click the Edit button.

  3. In the Interior Stair Defaults, make changes to the following options.

  4. On the Style panel:

  • Set the Stringer values.

  • Set the Tread Overhang and Thickness.

  • On the Newels/Balusters panel:

    • Set the Stair Rail Height.

    • Set the Newel and Baluster Types.

  • On the Handrail panel:

    • Chose a molding profile for the Handrail and set its Height and Width.

  • On the Materials panel:

    • Set the default materials for the various components of the Stair.

  • When you have completed making changes to the stair defaults, click OK to apply the changes, and repeat this process to set the default values for Exterior Stairs and Ramps.
