QUESTION

I have just created a materials list, and on the list I see an entry for Fir Stud Stock.

What is Fir Stud Stock, and how is it different from the Fir Stud or Fir Plate that is also listed on my materials list?

ANSWER

Fir Stud Stock is an estimate of the amount of wall framing material needed that is not full length.

Examples of where Fir Stud Stock would be used include:

  • Wall framing in attic gable walls
  • Trimmers and cripples around doors and windows.

It is calculated in linear feet rather than in pieces.

Headers are calculated separately.
