Message: Unable to import .SKP file.

  • Chief Architect X5
  • Chief Architect X4
QUESTION

When I try to import some 3D symbols in .SKP format, this message appears:

"Warning: Unable to import .SKP file. The .SKP file format standard does not offer support for 64-bit applications. You may import this .SKP file using the 32-bit version of Chief Architect."

RESOLUTION

This warning message will display in the 64-bit version of Chief Architect Premier when you try to import a 3D symbol created in Google Sketchup. Sketchup is currently only available only as a 32-bit application and as such its files cannot be imported into a 64-bit program.

SKP files can be imported into 32-bit versions of Chief, however, so if you need to import a symbol, you can do so by installing the 32-bit version of Chief Architect Premier.  Both 32-bit and 64 bit versions can be installed on the same computer at the same time.

Please note that the two program versions will share some data - notably, library content. If you add or remove content using one version, the changes will be reflected in the other as well.
