QUESTION

I would like to use the Room Volume text macro in my room labels, but it displays four decimal points.  How can I make it display fewer decimal places?

ANSWER

By default, many text macros are set up to display up to four decimal places, but you can easily reduce the number of decimal places used by creating a custom text macro.

To specify the number of decimal places used by a macro

  1. Open the plan in which you would like to modify the number of decimal places used by a text macro.

  2. Select CAD> Text> Text Macro Management  from the menu.

  3. In the Text Macro Management dialog:

    • Locate and select the name of the macro you would like to customize.

    • Notice that the Macro Value displays for reference.

    • Click the Copy button.

  4. In the Edit Text Macro dialog, which opens next:

    • Type a short, descriptive Name for your new custom macro.

    • Notice that the Value is the same as the Macro Value that displayed for the original macro.

  5. Click in the Value text field and use your right arrow key on your keyboard to move your cursor to the end of the text.

    • If any lines of text in the Value are too long to fit in the dialog, you can use the scroll bar at the bottom of the text field to scroll to the right.

  6. When your mouse cursor is blinking at the end of the text:

    • Press the Enter key on your keyboard once.

    • Type vol.round(#) - where # is the number of decimal places you want to use.

    • Click OK to close the dialog and apply your change.

  7. In the Text Macro Management dialog, notice that your new macro is included in the list, then click Done.
