How to control the size of line length labels
The information in this article applies to:- Chief Architect X3
- Chief Architect X2
- Chief Architect X1
I have created a plot plan using the CAD tools, but when I send the view to layout or print it, the dimension information is too small to read. How do I increase the size of plot plan dimension numbers so they are viewable in layout.
The method for specifying the size of line labels, which can display both the length and angle of a line or arc, depends on the program version you are using.
To display line labels:
- Click on a line, arc or polyline to select it, then click the Open Object
edit button.
- On the Line Style tab of the object's specification dialog, check the boxes beside:
- Show Length
- Show Angle
- All Angles
- Show Length
- Click OK to close the dialog and display line labels for the selected object.
To specify line label height in Chief Architect:
In Chief Architect, line label height is a file-specific default setting.
- Open the Chief Architect plan or layout file in which you would like to change the size of line and arc labels.
- Select Edit>Default Settings
from the menu.
- In the Default Settings dialog, click on the plus + sign next to CAD in the list on the left, select General CAD, then click the Edit button.
In Chief Architect X1, in the Default Settings dialog, click on CAD in the list on the left, then click the Edit button.
- In the CAD Defaults dialog, the desired Line Label Height, then click OK.
- In a layout file, which almost always has a Drawing Scale of 1" = 1", specify the actual line label height that you would like to print.
- In a plan file, specify a line label height that takes into account the Drawing Scale that you would like to use when sending to layout or printing. For example, if you use a Drawing Scale of 1/4" = 1', the actual printed size of 6" high line labels will only be 1/8" high.
- In a layout file, which almost always has a Drawing Scale of 1" = 1", specify the actual line label height that you would like to print.
