QUESTION

I have a CAD detail, and would like to be able to use it in more than one plan. How do I add it to the library?

ANSWER

The Chief Architect library includes a selection of detail drawings in the CAD Blocks library. You can save additional drawings of your own in this library, as well, so they are easily accessed in any plan.

  1. Click the Select Objects toolbar button.

  2. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, click and drag a rectangular selection marquee around your CAD drawing.
  3. When everything you want to include in your block is selected, click the Make CAD Block edit button.

  4. Select the CAD object. The entire drawing should highlight.
  5. Click the Add to Library edit button or select Tools> Symbol> Add to Library from the menu.

    • In Chief Architect X3, the block will be added to the My Library category of the library.

    • In Chief Architect X2, the block will be added to the Import category of your Library Browser.
