I have a plan view sent to my layout, and when I make changes in plan view it changes my layout view, as well.
How can I make plan changes without affecting my layout?
Many types of views sent to layout are dynamic, which means that when changes are made to the plan, those changes will be seen in the layout view. Floor plan views and CAD Details are both dynamic when sent to layout. Cross section and elevation views also have dynamic properties.
Camera views and overviews, on the other hand, are static and do not update when changes are made to the plan. If you wish to update a 3D view sent to layout, then you will need to delete the existing layout view and send a new view to layout.
If you wish to send a dynamic view type to layout, such as a Cross Section/Elevation or floor plan view, yet prevent it from updating when changes are made to the plan, send the view to a CAD Detail before sending it to layout.
To create a static layout view:
- Open the Chief Architect plan from which you want to send a static view to layout and go to the view that you wish to send.
- Select CAD> CAD Detail From View
from the menu. The view will be sent to a CAD Detail window where it will look the same but will now be a line drawing only.
- Select File> Send to Layout
from the menu to send the CAD Detail to layout.
- If you make any changes to the CAD Detail, they will be seen in the view sent to layout; however, when you make changes in floor plan or camera views, the CAD Detail line drawing sent to layout will not be affected.
