QUESTION

After I select the toolbar button I want to use, my Status Bar at the bottom of the screen disappears. How do I get the Status Bar to display the current floor, the current CAD layer the tool that I am working with and the position of my cursor all the time?

ANSWER

The Status Bar is found at the bottom of the Chief Architect program window and displays information about the current state of the program, such as the type of view that is currently active, which tool is active, what type of object is selected and the location of your cursor in the drawing area.

To enable the Status Bar

  1. Open any Chief Architect plan and select Edit> Preferences  from the menu.

  2. On the Appearance panel of the Preferences dialog, locate the Status Bar section.

    • Check the box beside Enable to display relevant information in the Status Bar at all times.

    • Check the box beside Show Screen Redraw Time to display the number of seconds it takes to redraw the screen.  This may be useful for determining the effectiveness of the 3D acceleration of your video card or any changes you may have made to its properties.

    • Check the box beside Show Coordinates if you would like the Status Bar to display the current location of your cursor in the drawing area.

  3. When you are satisfied with your selection, click OK to close the dialog and apply your change.
MORE INFORMATION
