QUESTION

When I place a cabinet in plan view and try to adjust it to a smaller size, it will not go any smaller than 9".  How do I resize it to a smaller width?

ANSWER

In Chief Architect, the default minimum width for cabinets is 9", since cabinets are rarely more narrow than this.  You can, however, easily change this minimum value in the General Cabinet Defaults dialog.

To change the minimum cabinet width

  1. Select Edit> Default Settings  from the menu.

  2. In the Defaults Settings dialog:

    • Click the + beside Cabinets to expand the category.

    • Click on General Cabinet to select it.

    • Click the Edit button.

  3. In the General Cabinet Defaults dialog, specify the desired Min Cabinet Width value, then click OK to close the dialog.

    • The smallest value allowed is 1/16".

  4. In the Default Settings dialog, click the Done button to close this dialog as well.

  5. Click on a cabinet to select it, then resize it as desired.  You will be able to resize it down to the Min. Cabinet Width value that you specified.
