How to create an arc for a portion of a plot plan
The information in this article applies to:One of the sides of my plot plan is curved rather than a straight line. How can I define this arc accurately?
To create a curved plot plan edge
- Draw the straight lines of the plot plan, leaving the arc (or arcs) as the last segment to be added.
- If you are drawing the plot plan with the Line
tool, it's generally helpful to make sure that Object Snaps
- particularly Endpoint
snaps - are enabled. (You can check the status of these by clicking on Edit> Snap Settings)
So that individual lines snap together to form a polyline, make sure that Edit Object Partsis toggled off (This setting can be found by clicking on Edit> Edit Behaviors).
- Next, close the plot plan polyline with a Line
instead of an arc.
- After the chord has been added, select it and use the Change Line/Arc
tool to convert it to an arc.
- If the Change Line/Arc button is not found on the edit toolbar, make sure that the polyline is closed with no gaps at the corners.
- Also, select Edit> Edit Behaviors from the menu and make sure that there is not a checkmark beside Edit Object Parts
.
- If the Change Line/Arc button is not found on the edit toolbar, make sure that the polyline is closed with no gaps at the corners.
- Click on the arc edge of the polyline to select it, then click the Open Object
edit button. On the Selected Arc tab of the Polyline Specification dialog, you can specify the needed radius.
