How to Enter Non-Default Values in Specification Dialogs

In some specification dialogs, I find that when I change a value, my change isn't saved when I return to the dialog.
For example, when attempting to change the Ceiling Height (B) from the value in the Room Specification dialog, the value entered is not saved.
When the Default checkbox, or letter (D) (which stands for Default), is present in text fields in a variety of specification dialogs, Chief Architect will automatically apply the default value for this item, even if you delete the number in front of the (D) and replace it with a new value.
When you replace a number without also removing the (D) then you will receive the following error when you click OK:
To enter a non-default value
- Highlight the default value that is currently listed in the field you want to modify.
- Delete that value, including the (D), so that the field is completely blank.
- In the blank field, type in the desired value.
- Press the Tab key on the keyboard one time to update the dialog without closing it. It will also move your cursor to the next field.
- The value that you entered should be retained.
- If it is not, either the (D) was not removed, or possibly a structural limitation in your plan prevents the desired value from being applied. If this is the case, a warning message should display when you close the dialog.
