Help Database

In Chief Architect, windows of this type are not found in the Library Browser; however, they can be created by modifying a square or rectangular window.

To create a trapezoid shaped window

1. Open a plan in which you would like a trapezoid-shaped window.
   
   
   
2. Select Build> Window> Window  and click at the location that you wish to create the custom window.
   
   
   
3. Click the Select Objects  tool, then click on the window to select it.
   
   
   
4. Click the Open Object  edit button to open the Window Specification dialog. On the Shape tab:
   
   
   
   
   
   
   • Specify the desired height of the left top corner in the Left Height field.
     
     
   • Specify the desired height of the right top corner in the Right Height field.
     
     
   • Click either the Raise Bottom Left or Raise Bottom Right checkbox and specify the distance that you would like to raise the corner on the specified bottom side.
     
     
   • Press Tab on your keyboard to update the dialog without closing it and notice the preview diagram of the window on the right side of the dialog.
     
     
     
       Hint: To align the top edge of the window with the pitch of the roof above, click the Match Roof button.

   • When you are satisfied with the window's shape, click OK to close the dialog and apply your changes.
     
     
     
5. To see the results, select 3D> Create Perspective View> Full Overview  and click and drag a camera arrow towards the window.
   
   In Chief Architect X1 and prior, use 3D> Create Render View> Render Full Camera.
