When I want to join two walls, I click on one of the walls and then simply click the Connect Walls edit button and the two walls will join into one. Does Chief Architect have a "Connect CAD Lines" tool?
You can connect multiple CAD line segments into a single polyline using their edit handles or either the Fillet or Chamfer edit tools.
To connect two CAD lines using Fillet or Chamfer
- Open the plan in which you would like to join two CAD lines.
- Click the Select Objects
button and click on a CAD line that you would like to join to an adjacent CAD line.
- Double-click either the Fillet Two Lines
or Chamfer Two Lines
edit button to open the Fillet/Chamfer dialog.
- Double-click the Fillet Two Lines
edit button if you would like to two lines to be joined by a fillet, or curve.
- Double-click the Chamfer Two Lines
edit button if you would like to join the two lines with a third, angled line segment.
- If you would like the two lines to meet at a single point, it doesn't matter which tool you select.
- Double-click the Fillet Two Lines
- In the Fillet Chamfer dialog:
- If you double-clicked the Fillet Two Lines
edit button and would like the lines to be joined by a curve, specify the desired radius of that curve in the Fillet Radius field.
- If you double-clicked the Chamfer Two Lines
edit button and would like the lines to be joined by an angled line segment, specify the desired length of that angled segment in the Chamfer Distance field.
- If you would like to the two lines to meet at a point, leave both the Fillet Radius and Chamfer Distance at 0".
- Click OK to close the Fillet/Chamfer dialog.
- If you double-clicked the Fillet Two Lines
- Click once on the line that you did NOT select in step 2, above. The two lines will become joined in the manner that you specified.
You can also use the Fillet Two Lines and Chamfer Two Lines edit tools to add precisely defined fillets or chamfers to the corners of polylines. To learn how, see article 387 in this database: How to use the Fillet and Chamfer edit tools.
If you do not need to specify an exact fillet radius, you can quickly fillet corners using the Fillet edit behavior. For more information, see article 639: How do I create a text box with rounded corners?
