QUESTION

I have placed a symbol in my Chief Architect drawing and would like to resize it.  However, when I click on it, there are no resize edit handles, and the Height, Width and Depth fields are greyed out and unavailable in the specification dialog.  What do I need to do to resize this object?

ANSWER

Furniture, fixtures and geometric shapes in the library can only be resized when this option is enabled in the Plan Defaults dialog.

To resize library symbols

  1. First, open the Chief Architect plan the furniture and/or other items you wish to resize.

  2. Select Edit> Defaults Settings  from the menu.

  3. In the Default Settings dialog, click Plan, then click the Edit button.

  4. In the General Plan Defaults dialog:

    • Check the box beside Fixture/Furniture Resize Enable.

    • Click OK to close the dialog and apply the change.

  5. Click the Select Objects  button, then click on a furniture, fixture or geometric shape from the library.

    • This object will now display its resize edit handles.

    • If you click the Open Object  edit button, the Height, Width and Depth fields will be available for editing in the object's specification dialog.
