How to Set up Default Materials for Stairs

How do I set up the default materials for stairs before they are drawn?
There is not a defaults dialog for stairs. Instead, the default materials for stairs are specified in the General Material Defaults dialog.
To set up default materials for stairs
- Select File> New Plan
from the menu to open a new, blank plan or select File> Open Plan
to open an existing plan file in which you would like to specify the default materials for stairs.
- Select Edit> Default Settings
from the menu to open the Default Settings dialog.
- Click Materials, then click the Edit button.
- In Chief Architect X2 and prior click the + beside Materials, then click General Materials, then click the Edit button.
- In the Material Defaults dialog:
- Click on a category in the list on the left.
- Click the Library Material button to search the Library Browser for a suitable material for this category.
- Click the Plan Material button to search the Plan Materials dialog for a suitable material already referenced by this plan file.
- Click OK when you are satisfied with your selections.
- Click on a category in the list on the left.
- The following general material categories affect stairs, as well as other related objects:
- Balusters - Affects the balusters and stringers of stairs, as well as the balusters of railings.
- Floor - Affects the runner, if one is created, as well as the floor covering for rooms if a default has not been selected in the corresponding Room Materials dialog.
- Railings - Affects the handrail and newels of stairs, as well as the handrail of railings.
- Stair Tread - Affects the stair treads.
- Balusters - Affects the balusters and stringers of stairs, as well as the balusters of railings.
