How to use Open Below Rooms in X3 and Prior
The information in this article applies to:- Chief Architect X3
- Chief Architect X2
- Chief Architect X1
A room marked as Open Below in my plan has a floor instead of an opening to the floor below.
The Open Below room may be seen by the program as an independent building, separate from the rest of the plan.
To make the program recognize the Open Below room as a room within the larger plan, make sure that at least one of the walls defining this room is attached to another wall in the plan.
To attach a room to the rest of the plan
- Open the Chief Architect plan in which you having difficulties creating an Open Below room.
- Select Build> Wall> Invisible Wall
from the menu and draw an invisible wall connecting one of the walls forming the Open Below room to a wall of another room.
- Select Build> Structure> Rebuild Walls/Floors/Ceilings
from the menu or press the F12 on your keyboard.
- To see the results, select 3D> Create Perspective View> Floor Overview
from the menu.
Your room defined as an Open Below will now correctly display a blank area, instead of the same flooring material as defined by the room around it.
