I would like Chief Architect to default to a specific folder on my local machine's hard drive when opening files. How do I do this?
In Chief Architect, you can specify where on your computer the program looks when an existing plan or layout is opened or saved using Save As .
The method of specifying the default Open and Save As directory in Chief Architect depends on the version being used.
To change the default Open and Save As directory
- Select Edit> Preferences
from the menu.
- In the list on the left side of the Preferences dialog, click on New Plans. If you do not see it, click the + beside General to display its subheadings.
- On the lower right side of the New Plans panel, in the Open and Save As section, you have two options:
- Click the radio button beside Use Last Folder to refer the program to the last directory, or folder, used when File> Open Plan
, File> Open Layout
or File> Save As
was used.
- Click the radio button beside Use This Folder to refer the program to a particular folder on your local hard drive that you specify in the text field by browsing to its location on your system.
- When Use This Folder is selected, the pathname field and Browse button below become active.
- Click the Browse button to open the Browse for Folder dialog.
- Browse to the location on your computer where you would like Chief Architect to refer every time you select File> Open Plan
, File> Open Layout
or File> Save As
from the menu, then click OK to return to the Preferences dialog.
- When Use This Folder is selected, the pathname field and Browse button below become active.
- Click OK to close the Preferences dialog and apply your change.
