QUESTION

I deleted the roof in my plan but still see the roof framing.  Why is it still there and how do I delete the roof framing as well?

ANSWER

In order to build roof framing in Chief Architect, it's necessary to first build a roof.  However, once the framing is created it is independent of the roof planes, allowing you to delete either one without affecting the other.

To delete a roof and roof framing

  1. Open the Chief Architect plan in which you would like to delete the roof framing.

  2. Select Edit> Delete Objects  from the menu.

  3. In the Delete Objects dialog:

    • Click the radio button beside All Floors.

    • Check the box beside Roof Planes.

    • Keep in mind that if you click the OK button now, the roof planes in the drawing will be deleted, but the roof framing will not.

    • Check boxes beside Roof Framing, Roof Baseline Polylines, and Roof Trusses.

    • Click the OK button to delete both the roof and roof framing in your plan.

You can also turn off the display of roof planes, roof framing and all other objects without deleting them in the Layer Display Options dialog. For more information, see article 17 in this database: How to display framing in a Cross Section/Elevation view.
