QUESTION

I am creating a small room below a staircase.  It will have a number of fixtures and furnishings in it, and I would like to be able to see these in floor plan view, through the stairs.  How can I make the stairs transparent so that I can see the items that will be located below them?

ANSWER

The method used to make staircases transparent so that fixtures and furnishings placed below them can be seen in floor plan view depends on the version of Chief Architect you are using.

To make a single staircase transparent in floor plan view

  1. Open the plan in which you would like to make stairs transparent in floor plan view.

  2. Click the Select Objects  tool, then click on the stairs to select them and click the Open Object  edit button.

  3. On the Fill Style tab of the Staircase Specification dialog, select None (Transparent) from the Fill Pattern drop-down list and click OK to close the dialog and apply the change.
