Chief Architect Help Database - Article Number: 742

Clicking Install is installing the wrong program.

The information in this article applies to:

Chief Architect 10 and prior

DESCRIPTION
When I attempt to install Chief Architect, my computer tries to install a different program.

CAUSE
A problem related to the installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2

RESOLUTION
  1. Place Program Disk 1 into your CD drive.  For Version 9.5 or prior, this disk will be labeled Software CD.

  2. Wait for the Install splash screen to appear on screen and click the Exit button.





  3. Go to the Windows Start Menu and select Run.

  4. Click Browse in the Run dialog box.

  5. Browse to the CD drive.

  6. A list of the CD contents appears.  Double click the folder called Install.



  7. You will now see a file called Setup.exe. Select that file and click the Open button.



  8. Click OK in the Run dialog.






  9. The install process will now start correctly.
