How to Create a Screen Porch

How can I create a screened-in porch in Chief Architect?
Screened panels can be created by applying a custom material to the glass in a window and then using copies of this window to form a porch.
- Select Build> Window> Window
and place a window into one of the walls of your porch.
- Select 3D> Create Orthographic View> Cross Section/Elevation
and take a cross section of the screen porch wall.
- In the Cross Section/Elevation view, select your window and using the edit handles:
- Adjust the top height of the window to match the top of your wall
- Adjust the bottom height of the window to the height where you want the bottom of your screen to start.
- When you are satisfied with the appearance of the window, select File> Close or click the
button at the top right of the view window to close the camera view and return to floor plan view.
- Adjust the top height of the window to match the top of your wall
To change the material from glass to a screen material.
- Using the Select Objects
tool. select the window and click the Open Object
edit button. In the .
- On the General tab of the Window Specification dialog, change the Window Type to Fixed Glass.
- Go to the Materials tab, select Glass, click on the Library Material Button, then navigate to Materials> Fabric and Wall Coverings> Sheers and Shades> Screen and click to select it.
- Click OK and return to the Window Specification dialog.
- Click OK once more to close the dialog completely, applying the change in material.
- Repeat this process for any remaining windows in your plan, then take a Camera
view to see the results.
