Why is the program moving my archive folder?

  • Chief Architect X1
QUESTION

I opened a file from a previous version in Chief Architect X1 or newer, and an Information message states that the archive folder for this file will be moved. Why is this?

ANSWER

In response to new functionality in the Windows Vista operating system, beginning in Chief Architect X1, build 3, the program automatically migrates the archive folders for all plan and layout files created in previous program versions to the Chief Architect Data folder located in My Documents.

If you wish, you can specify a different location on the local machine for your Chief Architect Data folder on the Folders panel of the Preferences dialog.
