QUESTION

I would like to use a line style that includes letters - such as H/W for Hot Water - but when I try to select one on the Line Style tab of my object's specification dialog, the line styles all look the same. What is wrong?

ANSWER

The display of lettered line styles on the Line Style tab of many specification dialogs is affected when Automatic Line Weight Scaling is enabled.  This option is on by default in plans created in any of the Home Designer programs, but should not be used in Chief Architect.

To restore the display of line styles

  1. Select File> Print> Page Setup  from the menu.

  2. Under the Line Weight Scale (Advanced Use Only) heading, uncheck Automatic.

  3. Make sure that your Line Weight Scale is correct.

    • In Chief Architect X1 and newer, the default Line Weight Scale is 1 = 1/100 mm.

    • In Chief Architect 10, the default Line Weight Scale was 1 = 1/600 in.

    • Whatever line weight scale you use, make sure that it is the same in both plan and layout files.

  4. Click OK to close the dialog and apply your change.
