How does the security system work with Chief Architect?
If your Chief Architect implements security through software lock security, a license of Chief Architect can only be active on one computer at any given time.
If you have been running the software on one computer and wish to run it on a different computer, you must deactivate your license on the first computer by using the Deactivate License option in the Help menu.
To deactivate a Chief Architect license:
-
Launch Chief Architect on the computer where your license is active.
-
Select Help> Deactivate License from the menu.
-
A message will confirm that you wish to deactivate the license. Click Yes.
-
After a pause, a second message will inform you that the license has been successfully deactivated.
Additional Information:
- The software lock security is the default security with Chief Architect X2 and newer can be used to provide portability of the software between additional computers. Keep in mind that internet access is required for Activation and Deactivation, and that Active licenses are periodically validated online.
- An emergency transfer option does exist for the case where you are unable to successfully Deactivate the current Activated license; such as in the case of a hard drive failure, and three such emergency transfers are permitted. There is a fee for additional emergency transfers.
You are issued an Emergency Transfer Password upon successful activation of Chief Architect the first time. Be sure to record this Emergency Transfer Password for future reference. - The hardware lock security is available for an additional fee and works similar to previous versions.
- Information on all security options can be found here.
