Program Updates
Updates to Chief Architect are released from time to time, and are made available for you to download, free of charge, from this page. In addition, sometimes upgrades are offered free of charge, that can be ordered, shipping and handling will apply for products sent via the mail.

Instructions

Before installing any new software you should always make a complete backup of all your work.
To update your system, click on the link below that corresponds with the version of Chief Architect that you are using. If you are not sure of what version and version date you are using, open your copy of Chief Architect and check the Help/About dialog box where you will find that information.
When you get to the correct Program Update, just click on it to start downloading. When prompted, make sure you choose "Save to disk" and not "Open from current location". We recommend saving the file to your Desktop, where it will be easily found.
Once you’ve downloaded the updated release, make sure you’ve closed Chief Architect. You won’t be able to update it if it’s open. Then double-click on the name of the update program file, it will guide you through the update process.

Free 9.5 Upgrade
Chief Architect 9.5 upgrade is free to all users of 9.0*. It is only available on CD. Call 800.482.4433 for a free upgrade to 9.5 (applicable for 9.0 users). A key feature in 9.5 is compatibility with Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer files. All new features in 9.5 are included in our What’s New Documentation.

Free 9.03 Update
Find your current version in the left-hand column of the table below and click on the link to the right of it to download the appropriate update.

To facilitate faster downloads, Chief Architect has zipped these update files. Once the update file has finished downloading to your computer it will need to be unzipped, and then it can be installed. You can download an evaluation copy of Winzip for free. The FTP and HTTP download links both lead to the same file; the FTP Download is a little faster. However, if the FTP Download link does not work for you please use the HTTP Download link.
