I want to change the rail style on my stairs to a cable or glass. How can I so this?

In Chief Architect, you are able to draw a railing for your stairs manually which allows you the same style options as a standard railing. In this way you can create a staircase that has a custom railing applied.

To draw a stair rail manually

  1. Using the Select Objects  tool, click your stair case and click Open Object

  2. On the Newels/Balusters panel of the Stair Case Specification dialog, remove the check from the Railing On: Left and Right check-boxes.

  3. Select Build> Railing and Deck> Straight Railing from the menu.

  4. Draw a new railing overlapping the side of the stairs.

  5. Select the new railing and click on the Open Object  edit tool.

  6. In the Railing Specification dialog, on the Rail Style panel:

  • Under the Specify Railing section, move the radio button to Panels.

  • Under the Build From section, check the box beside Follow Stairs.

  • Under the Newels/Balusters panel, click the Library button to select a new panel from the library.

In this example, navigate to Chief Architect Core Catalogs> Architectural> Fences and Railings> Cable>
Cable w/ Intersector and select this panel type.
