When I take a 3D view of my plan, the doors always show as closed. How do I show them as being open?

Chief Architect makes it easy to open doors in your plans. You can open individual doors or you can set the defaults to make every door show as open in your 3D views.

To specify one door as open

  1. With the Select Object  tool, select the door you wish to open.

  2. Use the Open Object  tool to open the Door Specification dialog.

  3. On the General panel, in the Swing Angle box, specify the angle you wish to display the open door.

  4. Click on the Options panel. Place a dot in the Show Open radio button under 3D Display.

  5. Click OK.

The Show Door Open edit tool, located on the edit toolbar when a door is selected, is a quick and easy way to set the door to being open if you already have the swing angle setup correctly within the default settings.

To set all doors you create as open in default settings

  1. Click on Edit> Default Settings .

  2. Click on the arrow  next to Doors, select Interior Door, then click the Edit button.

  3. On the Interior Door Defaults Dialog, click the General panel and specify the Swing Angle you want.

  4. Click on the Options panel and place a dot in the radio button for Show Open.

  5. Click OK, and now all default interior doors you place will now be shown as open. This will not affect any doors already in your plan.

Note: These same settings can be specified for each Door Type within the Default Settings, although the option to change the swing angle will only be available for Interior, Exterior, and Bifold doors.
