DESCRIPTION

I have a physical DVD of a Chief Architect X6, or Home Designer 2015, or newer version program and want to install the program's main library Core Catalog content folder loaded on the disc, instead of downloading it from the internet.

How can I accomplish this task?

RESOLUTION

Follow the appropriate steps below for your operating system.

To install the core catalog files on Windows

  1. Save your work and exit out of the program if you have it open.

  2. Insert the program DVD in to your DVD drive.

  3. If Autoplay starts, close it and navigate to the program disc directly to right-click and select Open to view its contents, and open the CoreContent folder.

  4. On your keyboard, hold the Windows key and press R once to open a Run dialog.

  5. In the Open line of the Run dialog, type %programdata% and click OK.

  6. Locate and browse into the appropriate Chief Architect X8 or Home Designer 2017 folder.

  7. Copy the Core Libraries (.calib) files from the disc into the Core Libraries folder in ProgramData.

  8. Copy the Referenced Files (.zip) files from the disc into the Referenced Files folder in ProgramData.

These are compressed files and should be placed directly into the Referenced Files folder. Do NOT unzip them.
