QUESTION

I want to change the rail style on my stairs. How can I so this?

ANSWERS

In Chief Architect you are able to draw a railing for your stairs manually which allows you the same style options as a standard railing. In this way you can create a staircase that has a custom railing applied.

Drawing a stair rail manually

  1. Open the plan you want to customize.

  2. Select your stair case and click Open Object .

  3. On the Newels/Balusters panel of the Stair Case Specification dialog, remove the check from the Left and Right check-boxes.

  4. Select Build> Railing and Deck> Straight Railing from the menu.

  5. Draw a new railing along the edge of the stairs.

  6. Select the new railing and click Open Object .

  7. Under the Rail Style panel, check the Follow Stairs check-box.

While here on the Rail Style panel you may also want to select a railing type. For this example we will be using the Panels type.

  8. Under the Newels/Balusters panel click the Library button to select a new panel from the library.

    • In this example we've used the Cable w/ Intersector panel.

Open a 3D camera view of your stairs to see how the new rail looks.
