DESCRIPTION

Sometimes, when I try to place or edit a floor or ceiling platform hole in my drawing, a message tells me:

"A floor or ceiling platform hole polyline is placed where the platform height changes, or where no platform exists. Move the hole so it is completely contained within a single platform."

OR

"Could not create a hole in floor platform"

What do these messages mean?

CAUSE

By definition, a hole in an object such as a floor or ceiling platform must be completely contained within that object. A platform hole cannot touch the edge of the platform, extend past the edge of the platform, or be contained by multiple platforms.

If you draw a floor or ceiling platform hole at a location where it is not completely contained within a single floor or ceiling platform, one of these warning messages will display.

RESOLUTION

To prevent these warnings from displaying, make sure that each floor/ceiling hole present in your drawing:

  • Is completely located inside of a room with the relevant type of platform present. For example, the Hole in Floor Platform tool should not used to create a hole in an Open Below room.

  • Does not extend across multiple room areas with different floor or ceiling heights.

  • Does not extend across multiple room areas with different floor or ceiling platform definitions.
