QUESTION

I have moved my Library Browser, Project Browser, Active Layer Display Options, and/or Tool Palette onto a secondary monitor which is no longer there or otherwise cannot locate it when I go to activate this side window. How can I reset it to its default position?

ANSWER

Resetting the side windows in Chief Architect can be done by accessing the program's Preferences.

If you have customized the layout of a single side window, such as the Library Browser, this can also be reset without resetting all of the side windows.

To reset all side windows to their original sizes and position

  1. Launch Chief Architect, then navigate to Edit> Preferences  if you're on a Windows PC or Chief Architect> Preferences if you're on a Mac.

  2. On the Reset Options panel of the Preferences dialog that displays, click on the Reset Side Windows button.

Selecting Reset Side Windows on the Reset Options panel

  3. You will be prompted with an Information window stating "All side windows will be reset to the default size and position when you re-launch the program." Click OK.

  4. Save  any work that may be open, re-launch the Chief Architect program, and notice that the size and position of all of your side windows have been restored.

To reset the layout of the Library and/or Project Browser

  1. Launch Chief Architect, then navigate to Edit> Preferences  if you're on a Windows PC or Chief Architect> Preferences if you're on a Mac.

  2. On the Library Browser and/or Project Browser* panel of the Preferences dialog that displays, click on the Reset Panel Layout button.

*Applies to X17 and newer versions.

Click on the Reset Panel Layout button in Preferences

  3. Notice that the button(s) will become grayed out and inaccessible, indicating that the panels associated with the side window(s) have been reset to their default size and locations. Click OK
