Sharing and Embedding 3D Viewer Models

How do I share a 3D Viewer Model or embed it online?

Example of a 3D Model in the Chief Architect 3D Viewer.



ANSWER

3D Viewer Models can be shared or embedded by utilizing the tools available in your My Account. Before Exporting to the Chief Architect 3D Viewer, it is recommended that the plan be optimized for viewing in this format. Please refer to this Knowledge Base article for information on Optimizing a Plan for 3D Viewer Export

Note: To Export a 3D Viewer model from Chief Architect, you will need current SSA and your Chief Architect Premier or Interiors version must be 18.3 or newer.

To export a 3D Viewer file to the Chief Architect Cloud

  1. Open the plan that you would like to export a 3D Viewer model from and open a Perspective Full Overview Perspective Full Overview icon.


  2. Select File> Export> Export Chief Architect 3D Viewer File Export Chief Architect 3D Viewer File icon.


  3. If you are not already logged in, the Chief Architect Account Login dialog will display. Log into the online account that is associated with your Chief Architect software license.


  4. Next, the Export 3D Viewer File dialog will display. Provide a plan Name and optional Description.

    Notice that this dialog also shows the model's Surface Count and the Texture Size. It is recommended to keep the number of exported surfaces below 500,000 and exported texture memory below 50MB.   5. An information message will display confirming your upload click OK.


To share or embed a 3D Viewer Model

  1. Log into your Chief Architect Account then click on Manage Your 3D View Models.

  2. 3D Viewer Models are private by default. A 3D Viewer Model needs to be made public before it can be shared or embedded. Click the Make Public button to enable sharing.

    Note: 3D Viewer models are not Viewable with Internet Explorer. For more information on System requirements for the Chief Architect 3D Viewer, please refer to the 3D Viewer System Requirements page.



  3. Click the Share button to bring up the different sharing options.

    • Direct Link
      Click the Direct Link tab to directly share your 3D Viewer Model, copy the link and paste it to wherever you're sharing it. This would be the link to use to see the 3D Model in your browser or sharing to various social media sites.

    • E-mail
      Select the E-mail tab. Click the Send E-mail button to open the default mail application on your computer (Outlook, OS X Mail, Thunderbird, etc.). Click the copy button if your primary e-mail is a web-based e-mail (Gmail.com, Outlook.com, Yahoo.com, etc.). This will copy the text to your clipboard. Go to your web based e-mail client and start a new e-mail. Then paste the text to add it to your new e-mail.

    • Embed
      Click on the Embed tab, then copy the HTML code and paste it into the source code for your website. Or provide the code to your webmaster and ask them to add it to your website.

    • Embed on ChiefTalk
      Select the Embed tab and then click the ChiefTalk button. Click on the code to select it then press the copy button. Next, paste the code into your ChiefTalk post. ChiefTalk will automatically embed the 3D Viewer Model once you add your post to ChiefTalk.

    • Embed on a WordPress blog
      Select the Embed tab and then click the WordPress button. Click on the code to select it then press the copy button. Next, go to to your WordPress page. In the WordPress page editor, be sure to use the Text editor instead of the Visual Editor.

      Note: Embedding 3D Models only works with Self-Hosted WordPress sites. Sites hosted on WordPress.com will not be able to embed 3D Models.
