QUESTION

I have a long schedule that I would like to break up into smaller sections. Is this possible?

ANSWER

In X17, the ability to split, or wrap, schedules is available by accessing the Schedule Specification dialog. When this functionality is enabled, a variety of settings can also be adjusted, which are discussed below.

To split a schedule into multiple tables

  1. Select the schedule that you would like to split, or wrap, then click on the Open Object  edit tool.

  2. On the Columns/Rows panel of the Schedule Specification dialog that displays:

    • Check the Wrapping box to enable the functionality.

Note: A schedule with the Swap Rows/Columns setting checked has wrapped tables positioned horizontally from left to right, while a schedule with the Swap Rows/Columns setting unchecked has wrapped tables positioned vertically from top to bottom.

    • Select between Entries per Table or Max Table Size.

The Entries per Table option allows you to specify the maximum number of rows or columns in each table, while the Max Table Size allows you to specify the maximum height or width of each table in inches (mm).

Click the Scale button to open the Printed Size Input dialog. For more information on scaling text, please refer to your program's documentation.

    • Specify the Wrapped Schedule Offset, which is the distance between each of the schedule's tables.

    • When Justify Wrapped Tables is unchecked, tables use the same default row height or column width. Check this box to instead justify row height or column width as needed to make the tables the same size.

    • Using the Table Alignment drop-down, choose between Top, Centered, or Bottom when the Swap Rows/Columns setting is unchecked or Left, Centered, or Right when the Swap Rows/Columns setting is checked.

    • When Display Title on Wrapped Tables is checked, each wrapped table displays the schedule's title at the top. Uncheck this to only display the title at the top of the first table.

    • When Display Column Headings in Wrapped Tables is checked, each wrapped table displays column headings. Uncheck this to only display column headings in the first table.

  3. Click OK, and notice that the schedule will split into multiple tables based on the settings that you specified.
