QUESTION

I encounter one of the following messages when importing a file:

  • "#272033161 - When Project Management is enabled, a copy of the selected file is saved as an Asset. The plan links to the new Asset rather than the selected file. The imported Asset can be accessed in the Asset Management dialog."

  • "#272033162 - When Project Management is enabled, copies of the selected files are saved as Assets inside the Project Management system. The plan links to the copies in the Project Management system rather than the copies on disk that were originally selected. The imported files can be accessed in the Asset Management dialog."

Is this expected behavior, and if so, how can I access the Asset Management dialog?

ANSWER

Assets are external files that are referenced by plan and layout files when Project Management is enabled. Some common examples of assets include images, material map files, and PDF files, but they can also include a variety of other file types as well.

Note: To learn more about Project Management, please refer to the Related Articles section or access your program's documentation.

You may receive one of the messages above upon importing an external file; these are displayed for informational purposes only. You can choose whether or not to check the Do not show this message again box if you no longer want to see this message when importing external files, then you can click OK to proceed.

Once an external file is imported, it becomes an asset that is referenced and managed directly within the program, preventing the need to manage the file outside of the Chief Architect software. To manage assets at any time, navigate to Tools> Asset Management  from the menu.

The Asset Management dialog displays all assets referenced by all projects. To learn more about the Asset Management dialog, please refer to your program's documentation
