Chief Architect can no longer find one or more plan files from which views have been sent. You may have moved or renamed the plan files(s) resulting in the broken link so that views sent from the plan can no longer be displayed in the layout.
Using the Layout Page Display Options dialog and/or the Layout Box Defaults, turning off the display of layout box labels is quick and easy. You can also open an individual layout box and suppress the label, giving you additional control over which layout boxes display them, and which don't.
You can create your own custom template plans to reflect the architectural styles, annotation sets, and materials that you use most often.
The steps outlined in this article explain how to quickly adjust the layers that display in a view that has been sent to a layout.
Your layout is an integral part of the design process. It's the one thing that doesn't change that much from project to project. Save time with a template by following the instructions in this article.
The weight of a line refers to its thickness on the printed page and is described in absolute terms as a fraction of a unit, often 1/100th of a millimeter or 1/1000 of an inch. In Chief Architect and Home Designer Pro, line weights are assigned to objects, patterns, and layers using whole numbers that correspond to the numerator of this fraction. You can specify the Line Weight Scale by defining the denominator and the unit used in this fraction in the Drawing Sheet Setup dialog. If the Line Weight Scale in the plan is different than the layout, and you attempt to send a view from that plan to that layout, you may receive the error mentioned at the top of this article.
This message displays when you send a view to layout at a scale that will make it either taller than the layout drawing sheet's height or wider than its width.
Use the Backup Entire Plan/Layout tool found in the File menu to send a project, in its entirety, to a colleague, another Chief Architect user, or Chief Architect Technical Support.
Your operating system controls what programs open a particular file type. Follow the instructions for your version of Windows or Mac to change the file association for project, plan, layout, and library files to the version of Chief Architect or Home Designer that you want to open them when you double-click on them.
When you close one of these types of views and the view in question has been previously sent to layout, this message box may display, allowing you to choose whether to update the layout view or not.
You can edit an existing layout title block and border by selecting all of the CAD and Text objects and resizing them to fit a newly selected drawing sheet size.
The Project Browser is a convenient way to access all of the views that are present in a plan or layout file.
Layout Page Templates allow you to create one or more title blocks and borders and then assign them to the layout pages of your choice.
Live views may experience a loss in quality as you zoom and pan on the layout page. To restore a view’s resolution, simply update or refresh it.
Cloud and network services are great for easily sharing files between colleagues. But before opening and working on Chief Architect files, make sure to copy or download the file to your local hard drive.
Views sent to layout can easily be resized, or rescaled, using the various edit tools that display when a layout box is selected.
While working on your project you may need to create various copies of your projects/files. There are various methods of creating copies of projects/files that will be covered in this article.
