2018 Chief Architect Design of the Year Contest Winners

Design of the Year Winners 2019

Congratulations to the 2018 Chief Architect Design of the Year winners!

Throughout 2018, Chief Architect held a monthly design contest for our customers to showcase their work. This year, we had over 175 renderings submitted for our Residential, Remodeling, and Kitchen/Bath/Interiors Design Contests.

Each month our Facebook fans were asked to vote for their favorite design. The winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) were entered into our year-end Design of the Year contest in December. Voting was open until January 9th and we are pleased to announce the winners! Discover more about the contestants through our Featured Contest Winner stories.

Grand Winners

Residential Design Category

Grand Winner – Jeff Burns of Jeff Burns Designs

“I have been using Chief Architect for over 9 years now. I started out using home design pro and ran that software for over 4 years, using it only on the projects that I built. Then in 2011 I upgraded to Chief, once I learned more it was a game changer. I realized I was missing out on all the additional features, time-saving tools, and improved features. I then began to design much faster and became more and more efficient. Since then I have been rapidly growing my design business too much higher levels. I am very pleased with this software and always look forward to new updates!

“This southern plantation style home is a two-story split open floor plan with 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, including many amenities including a Game Room and Movie Theater. This plan is 7,147 sq. ft Heated and 10,943 sq. ft Under Roof. The family wanted a Southern Plantation style home that will be built on over a 10-acre tract of land.

“Jeff Burns Designs is a Home or Commercial Space Planner, providing turn-key Drafting, Plans, and Design ideas for any size project. Jeff specializes in custom residential & light commercial design and house plans projects.”

Remodel/Addition Category

Grand Winner – Nathan Ensminger of Heartland Home Improvements Inc.

“This is a remodel/addition design for our customer who wanted to enjoy his backyard again. The pergola you see is not a simple cedar pergola, it has motorized louvers so with a touch of a button, you can have a pergola or a closed roof. This is a product from Cardinal Architecture that we are one of the few companies certified to install in our area.”

Kitchen/Bath & Interiors Category

Grand Winner – Zak Rathgeber of Livara Design Inc.

“This design is for an inner-city client that had an emphasis on “Entertaining”. They wanted lots of seating in the kitchen where the action is, as well as a modern feel but not too sterile. I think we accomplished their vision, starting construction soon!”
