Winners of the 2019 Design of the Year Contest

2019 Chief Architect Design of the Year Winners

Congratulations to the 2019 Design of the Year winners!

Throughout 2019, Chief Architect held monthly design contests for our customers to showcase their work. Designers from all around the world, with vastly different backgrounds and design styles, competed head-to-head in the following three categories: Residential, Remodel / Additions, and Kitchen/ Bath & Interiors.

Each month our Facebook fans were asked to vote for their favorite design. The winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) were entered into our year-end Design of the Year contest in December. Voting was open until January 9th and we are pleased to announce the winners! Discover more about the contestants through our Featured Contest Winner stories.

Residential Design Category

Grand Winner- Sean Bulman of Bulman Designs.

“The design is a collaborative effort of myself and the client’s vision. This is a take on a modern prairie style home surrounded by a golf course, desert hills and multiple views to Kamloops Lake.

At the end of the day, things can change as the build progresses but my clients are always quite happy & excited to see their visions come to life.”

Sean Bulman

It was important to create interest in the form of the home and maximize multiple view corridors from each living space. I strive to integrate a client’s inspirations into a home layout that suits their needs and budget.

“Starting with Chief Architect I design a layout with a look in mind from our consultation meeting. These plans start to take shape and meld with each review meeting. Chief quickly allows me to make changes and gives instant feedback from my clients. Lumion is used as a finishing tool to provide the client with a more realistic image prior to building. At the end of the day, things can change as the build progresses but my clients are always quite happy & excited to see their visions come to life.”

Remodel/ Addition Design Category

Grand Winner- Gabriele Pizzale of Pizzale Design Inc.

“A remodeled condo space located in Oakville, Ontario. The wish list from the client was to upgrade their existing space with a transitional style and offer more space to socialize. Utilizing their large windows and fireplace, along with an addition to expand their existing space, we focused on maximizing their current space with an open concept layout between the kitchen and living room setting. It was also important to focus on the small details by incorporating custom pieces such as the pillows, drapery, and millwork with an integrated built-in bench under the window.

“At Pizzale Design Inc. we create livable luxury for busy clients who care about design and value, for a seamless renovation, a custom home, and commercial projects.”
